The Screen Truepress Jet2500UV delivers the kind of superlative image quality that makes true believers out of print buyers and contest judges alike.

ROLLING MEADOWS,Ill. — The Screen Truepress Jet2500UV delivers the kind of superlative image quality that makes true believers out of print buyers and contest judges alike. The printing system now has been recognized for achievement in see-through graphics.

A retail display printed by the Truepress Jet2500UV on non-perforated transparent film won an award sponsored by Contra Vision Ltd. The display, produced for Wacoal Corp., was singled out in the Contra Vision 3rd International Wrap Artists™ Competition in the “Best Interior Design” category. Contra Vision — the founder of the see-through graphics business, selling engineered substrates and licensing its technology to others — honors the best one-way vision wraps and other see-through graphics placed on buildings, vehicles, retail outlets and interior glass partitions.

Through a collaborative agreement between Screen and Contra Vision, the Truepress Jet2500UV is the first printer in the world capable of automatically generating see-through graphics. This new method automates the processing of output data utilized by the Truepress Jet2500UV to achieve high-quality see-through effects on standard transparent media without having to print on perforated window film.

Typically, see-through graphics have relied on perforated film for use as an advertising medium on the exterior windows of retail shops and glass surfaces of public transportation. The perforated film allows the glass surface to retain one-way transparency. However, problems with the strength and durability of perforated film have arisen, as has decreased transparency due to dirt and rain. Automatically creating see-through graphics without specialized media overcomes these problems.

Screen worked with Contra Vision to combine Contra Vision’s see-through graphics-related technology with the multi-layer printing function that is a standard feature of the Truepress Jet2500UV. Able to print up to seven image layers at the same time, the Truepress Jet2500UV is the only printing system that can support Contra Vision’s 10 types of see-through graphic patterns.

The Wrap Artists awards presentation took place at an evening ceremony on October 19, 2011, inNew Orleans. Screen (USA) is demonstrating the Truepress Jet2500UV at SGIA Expo 2011 in booth #2511, October 19-21 at theErnestN.MorialConvention CenterinNew Orleans.

uniFLOW Serverless Secure Print and imagePROGRAF IPF8300S Garner Summer “Pick” Awards

LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., August 4, 2011 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging, today announced the Company has received the Outstanding Document Security Solution and Outstanding Color Inkjet Wide-Format Production Photo Printer Summer “Pick” awards from Buyers Laboratory, Inc. (BLI) for its uniFLOW Serverless Secure Print solution and imagePROGRAF iPF8300S large format printer.

“These awards recognize Canon’s commitment to providing our customers a comprehensive suite of imaging solutions that take output production and management to the next level,” said Junichi Yoshitake, senior vice president and general manger, Imaging Systems Group, CanonU.S.A. “Canon is proud to receive Buyers Laboratory Summer ‘Pick’ awards for our uniFLOW Serverless Secure Print solution and imagePROGRAF iPF8300S large format printer.”

Recognized as “Outstanding” in their respective category by BLI, Summer “Pick” honors include:

uniFLOW Serverless Secure Print – “Outstanding Document Security Solution”

uniFLOW Serverless Secure Printing by NT-Ware enhances built-in MFP secure print functionality by bringing “MyPrint Anywhere” functionality and proximity card login to customers who do not have a print server. This not only increases productivity but also helps reduce waste by preventing unwanted print jobs being printed. Available for both MEAP enabled Canon imageRUNNER and imageRUNNER ADVANCE devices as well as select Canon compact multifunction products, uniFLOW Serverless Secure Print allows users to print their job using the normal Canon printer driver and then walk to any of the Canon MFPs on their network to release the job.

Canon imagePROGRAF iPF8300S – “Outstanding Color Inkjet Wide-Format Production Photo Printer”

The 44-inch imagePROGRAF iPF8300S eight-color large format printer broadens Canon’s offering to the graphics arts, photo and production markets by providing an optimal balance of high productivity and exceptional print quality. With Canon LUCIA EX pigment ink, professionals can achieve high quality and performance in such printing applications as color or monochrome photography, industrial design and high-quality poster production. The new eight-color system covers a reproducible color gamut which has been expanded approximately 20-percent beyond previous S-series models. With its new pigment materials and structure, Canon’s LUCIA EX ink set achieves greater shadow details, deeper black density and overall scratch resistance.

“The ‘Pick’ awards Canon won this season exemplify how Canon has expanded its product line over the years into other areas of the document imaging market to provide complete, high-quality solutions to its customers, whatever their needs,” said Daria Hoffman, BLI managing editor.

Twice a year with its “Pick” awards, BLI gives special recognition to the hardware and software products that provided the most outstanding performances in BLI’s unique evaluations. Hardware products undergo a demanding reliability test as well as a battery of tests to assess image quality, productivity, paper handling, ease of use and network connectivity, among others. Software solutions undergo an in-depth hands-on review that focuses on key attributes for a solution’s target market and compares how well the product stacks up against leading competitors. Pick winners rise above the competition in key areas such as value, feature set, ease of use, ease of administration, hardware compatibility, software integration, security and support. Software solutions earn an overall rating based on a five-star scale, and “Pick” contenders are culled from those that earn the highest ratings. Consequently, a BLI “Pick” is a hard-earned award that buyers and IT directors can trust to better guide them in their acquisition decisions.

Celebrating Its 30th Anniversary, Roland Is Recognized for Best-In-Class Service, Marketing and Customer Support

IRVINE, CA — (Marketwire – Jul 26, 2011) - Roland DGA Corp. has once again been recognized by InfoTrends, Inc. as the leading North American provider of digital printers for the durable graphics market.

According to the InfoTrends 2010 Quarterly Wide-Format Tracking Shipping Project report, Roland sold nearly twice as many printers in 2010 priced under $30,000 into the North American marketplace as its nearest competitors. The report cites Roland’s extensive support services and product reliability, as well as its in-depth understanding of customers and their unique business requirements, as key factors driving the company’s success.

“Our wide format quarterly shipment tracking project has shown that Roland is, once again, the worldwide market leader for 2010 in the sale of wide format durable graphics printers,” said Tim Greene, analyst for InfoTrends, Inc. and author of the report.

Focusing on the solvent inkjet printer manufacturing market, the InfoTrends report covers all four reporting quarters in 2010 and focuses on low-end wide-format solvent inkjets, considered to be one of the largest segments of the wide-format digital printing market. Combined, the global manufacturers of solvent inkjet printing equipment sold nearly 23,000 units in 2010. A total of 89 percent of the sales recorded were for printers priced under $30,000. InfoTrends numbers also show Roland with the leading market share when alternate (non-solvent) durable graphics technologies at similar price points are included in the study.

“Being a market leader involves more than offering great products at an affordable price,” said Dave Goward, president and CEO for Roland DGA Corp. “For Roland, it is a story 30 years in the making, built on a foundation of innovation and leadership, and forged out of a strong passion for providing customers with service that is second to none. These principles are the very fabric this company is created from, and something we encourage both within our own company and throughout our dealer channels.”

The announcement comes fresh on the heels of several important new product introductions from Roland serving both the wide-format and desktop printing markets. Roland recently debuted the industry’s first desktop metallic inkjet printer/cutter, the 20-inch VersaStudio BN-20, opening up new business opportunities for new and established shops looking to add metallic capabilities to their production environment.

Two new VersaUV LED printers were also introduced in 2011. The new VersaUV LEJ-640 64-inch hybrid flatbed and roll-to-roll printer is designed for commercial printers focused on the packaging market as well as high-end sign shops, and the 12-inch VersaUV LEF-12 flatbed UV LED printer serves the personalization market with direct printing on items ranging from cell phone covers and laptop computers to gifts, glassware and accessories. Each new printer features the latest version of Roland VersaWorks RIP software and comes equipped with specialty inks to help Roland customers explore new design options and differentiate their businesses in the marketplace.

“After 30 years of serving creative professionals, the Roland organization has never been stronger,” Goward said. “We are honored that so many of the world’s top graphics professionals continue to choose Roland, and we look forward to helping each customer build a successful Roland business.”

4th November 2010 — Michel Caza and Ricardo Rodríguez Delgado, members of the FESPA board of directors, have each been honoured with independent industry awards acknowledging the strong and continuing commitment they have demonstrated to the screen and digital printing technologies over a combined 83 years.

Michel Caza was presented with the prestigious Howard A. Parmele Award during the SGIA Expo in Las Vegas. Michel has been involved in the screen printing community since 1954; a pioneer in fine arts and graphic screen printing, he has worked with artists such as Dali, Matisse and Warhol. He became a founding member of FESPA in 1962, and has also played an active role in the SGIA. His unswerving commitment to the industry has seen him collect a host of awards since that time and led him to be inducted into the Academy of Screen Printing Technology, where he served as chairman in 2003.

The Howard A. Parmele Award, one of the most prestigious awards in the graphic arts industry, is presented to individuals who have had exceptional involvement in the speciality imaging industry over an extensive time period. Michel received the award for his vast contribution to screen printing and the SGIA community, of which he has been a member for 30 years. The honour also recognises his role as an industry pioneer in the field of UV inks for a wide range of graphic and industrial applications.

“I was very surprised to win this esteemed award and I am extremely appreciative of the honour connected with receiving it,” says Michel Caza. “This printing technology has been my life’s work and I am grateful that SGIA has recognised the passion I have for it, and the devotion I have given to it.”

Michel will participate in the Screen Masters Workshops at FESPA Americas, alongside fellow winner of the Parmele Award, Scott Fresener.

Michel’s colleague on the FESPA Board, Ricardo Rodríguez Delgado has also accepted an award in acknowledgment of his dedication to the print industry. The “Tribute of the Year 2010″ PIXEL Award was presented during a special ceremony at the Viscom Sign Exhibition in Madrid, in recognition of his career in the national and international graphic arts markets.

Ricardo began his career in print in 1982 in the outdoor advertising sector until 1984 when he became president of Panorama a leading screen printing company in Spain. Under his leadership, Panorama was renowned in Europe for its continuous technological innovation which led to its extension into other countries including Portugal and France. Having founded AEDES, the Spanish Association of Screen Printers in 1990, he joined the FESPA Board in 1995. Following this he served as FESPA’s President from 2002 to 2005, concluding his period in office with the phenomenally successful FESPA 2005 exhibition in Munich.

The PIXEL Awards were established by Pro-Digit@l magazine to celebrate the hard work of individuals and the contribution they have made towards the growth and development of the printing and graphic arts industry in Spain.

Ricardo comments, “I am so happy about winning this award. For me it represents the kindness and respect of my Spanish colleagues with whom I have worked for many years, firstly through AEDES and then with FESPA. To have my love and commitment for the graphic arts industry officially acknowledged is incredibly flattering and I am grateful.”

Models Targeting Graphic Arts and Photography Markets Show Exceptional Performance and Vibrancy

LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., July 22, 2010 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging, today announced the achievement of three “BEST” distinctions for the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF8300, iPF6350 and iPF6300 large format printers from BERTL, Inc. as part of the industry analyst firm’s 15th Annual Awards. Based upon their extraordinary image quality, enhanced image processing capability and advanced printing technologies including the new LUCIA EX pigment ink set, the BERTL “BEST” recognition builds upon the recent Five-Star “Exceptional” ratings earned by the new models as the imagePROGRAF line continues to establish its position as leading solution for end-users serving the most demanding customers.

“Canon U.S.A. is proud to receive the BERTL BEST award for providing large format solutions that meet the color quality, precision and workflow needs of graphic arts and photography professionals, ” said Jim Rosetta, vice president and general manger, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A. “Since its launch, the imagePROGRAF line has established itself as the preferred choice for professionals seeking a highly-versatile, easy-to-navigate solution capable of delivering extraordinary color-intensive output.”

To deliver extraordinary image quality across an expanded range of media types, the new imagePROGRAF models feature a Media Configuration Tool that enhances the precision and quality of output achieved with third-party and genuine Canon-branded applications. Additional print options and improved photographic output capabilities are delivered through bundled print plug-ins for Adobe Photoshop® and Canon’s Digital Photo Professional that support Adobe’s Color Management Module. These functions enable features such as Black Point Compensation, which affects the way Photoshop displays and works with colors to improve color conversions that are critical for reproduction in the graphic arts. Each new model allows 16-bit RGB images, edited in Photoshop, to be sent directly to the imagePROGRAF printers – preserving smooth and high gradation.

The imagePROGRAF iPF6350 and iPF6300 printers are compliant with U.S. ENERGY STAR energy-saving standards and RoHS compliance standards.
Prestigious Industry Awards Given to EFI’s Wide Format Printing, Industrial Inkjet and RIP Solutions for Innovation and New Technologies

FOSTER CITY, CA — April 8, 2010 – EFI™ (Nasdaq: EFII), a world leader in customer-focused digital printing innovation, today announced that it has won three European Digital Press (EDP) Association Awards for 2010; “Best Wide Format Printer up to 3.5 Meters” for the VUTEk® GS3200, “Best Industrial (Specialty) Printing Solution” for the Jetrion® 4830, and “Best RIP Solution for Wide Format” for Fiery® XF. This intensive evaluation is performed by a committee of independent consultants, editors, engineers and other related professionals, and is based on innovation and the value of the new technologies these products bring to the European market. This includes improving speed, quality, usability and functionality, or reducing environmental impact as well as cost to the user.

“Dedication to our customer’s success is our main priority. EFI has now won seven EDP awards since 2007, which is a testament to both our focus on innovation and continued commitment to our partners,” said EFI CEO, Guy Gecht. “EFI invests heavily in research and development and regularly seeks feedback from our users so that we can offer the products and solutions that will drive their businesses. We are extremely proud of this recognition from the European Digital Press Association; it is great motivation to continue to be leaders in digital printing innovation.”

EFI’s VUTEk GS3200 – “Best Wide Format Printer up to 3.5 Meters of the Year 2010”

The VUTEk GS3200 has earned this award for “being a new generation 3.2m UV-curable flat-bed and roll-fed printer with a maximum output resolution of 1,000dpi and the ability to produce 12 picoliter droplets in all colors including white and continuous board printing capabilities,” as referenced in the EDP report. The combination of superior photorealistic quality and high production speeds without compromises allows business to increase revenues by expanding into new, higher-margin applications.

EFI’s Jetrion 4830 – “Best Industrial (Specialty) Printing Solution of the Year 2010”

“Designed for the label market,” reads the EDP report, “its UV-curable inks provide excellent durability; its re-registration facility enables four-color double-sided jobs to be output accurately and it has the ability to be used on pre-printed and pre-die cut rolls.” The Jetrion 4830 prints 8.3-inches (21 cm) wide, enabling two-up four-inch labels. With its high speed print mode of greater than 120 feet per minute (36.6 meters per minute), the Jetrion 4830 is capable of more than doubling the throughput of the market-leading Jetrion 4000.

EFI’s Fiery XF 4.1 – “Best RIP Solution for Wide Format of the Year 2010”

The easy-to-use Fiery XF RIP has been given the award for “supporting contour cutting machines with drivers for 1,200 cutting and routing tables from 70 different manufacturers and for having an identical interface on both Windows and Macintosh platforms,” per EDP. Its automated workflow maximizes investment by reducing lengthy production times and producing accurate, vibrant colors.

The above winning products as well as other EFI solutions will be on display in EFI’s booth (#2420) at the ISA International Sign Expo, April 8-10, 2010 in Orlando, Florida, USA.
